Traditional Indian food almost always uses fresh ingredients and involves making dishes from scratch, which means less preservatives and overall healthier food. Indian cooking uses spices like turmeric, ginger, garlic, and green chilies – all of which have medicinal and healing properties. So in addition to being “spicy”, the spices used are actually good for the body and don’t just taste nice. Here are just a few of the traditional Indian dishes you’ll find at Serene Cuisine of India:
Tandoor is prepared with an open charcoal flame clay oven at a temperature of 900 °F, which gives the smoky flavor to the meats, vegetables and breads.
A common delicacy of India cooked with onions, ginger, garlic, cloves, cinnamon, coriander, turmeric, and pan roasted cumin to a medium thick consistency.
Korma is a dish originating in the Indian subcontinent, consisting of meat braised with yogurt or cream, water or stock, and spices to produce a thick sauce or glaze with coconut, and topped with cashews and raisins.
Masalas are chunks of roasted marinated meat cooked in a mildly spiced curry sauce thickened with yogurt and cream to get an authentic medium thick consistency.
Boneless tender meat pieces cooked with chopped spinach and freshly ground spices, garlic, ginger, onion, tomato with a hint of homemade yogurt finished with delicately added heavy cream.
Vindaloo is a traditional tongue searing curry. Meat is marinated with vinegar for tenderness and garlic for flavor. Vindaloos are served with a creamy cucumber yogurt sauce to help cool down your tongue.
